House Moves to Slash Taxes, Create More Economically Friendly Environment

April 29, 2022

HARRISBURG – During session this week, the House moved with bipartisan support to slash Pennsylvania’s Corporate Net Income Tax (CNIT). In response, the York County House Republican delegation, consisting of House Appropriations Chairman Stan Saylor (R-Red Lion), House State Government Committee Chairman Seth Grove (R-Dover), Game and Fisheries Committee Chairman Keith Gillespie (R-Hellam) and Reps. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover), Dawn Keefer (R-Dillsburg) and Mike Jones (R-York Township), issued the following statement:

“For decades, Pennsylvanians have been leaving our great Commonwealth for other states with because of better business tax climates. So much so that we have consistently lost congressional seats due to declining population growth.

House Bill 1960 not only entices businesses to stay, but also serves to attract new companies and jobs. It does so by cutting Pennsylvania’s CNIT (the second highest in the nation) from 9.99% to 8.99%, lowering taxes for more than 93,000 Pennsylvania businesses.

“York County is situated perfectly on the map and is within a day’s drive of much of the East Coast. This bill puts Pennsylvania on the map to better compete with neighboring states and attract and retain great jobs.

“By cutting taxes, we expect to see business growth, leading to more family-sustaining jobs for Pennsylvanians. It would produce a stronger Pennsylvania, with a strong job market and stronger communities.”
